Barry Conservation Camp Challenge

Camp is open, thanks to New Hampshire's outdoor community. Now a new effort has been launched to establish the Barry Camp Endowment, a long-term fund that will ensure that camp will be here to inspire future generations of conservationists and outdoor enthusiasts.

How to Donate: Send tax-deductible contributions to the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire, P.O. Box 3993, Concord, NH 03301. Specify The Barry Camp Fund or Capital Improvements.

Over the years, thousands of children have learned to hunt, fish and appreciate the natural world through their experiences at Barry Conservation Camp.

We still need your help!
While unbelievable progress has been accomplished in the past year, we now are in a new and important phase of the project – ensuring that Barry Conservation Camp will be viable into the future. Once again we are asking for your help and participation as we build a fund to sustain the annual operation and maintenance costs.

Camp operations cost about $6,000 a year. A fund has been established to provide for that. Called The Barry Camp Fund, it was launched in 2011 with a $10,000 donation from the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of N.H. That was a wonderful start, and now we need to build it to $100,000 to protect the investment we’ve made in refurbishing the camp.

We also have not finished the capital improvements begun in 2010. Still underway are upgrades to the shooting range (including a covered shooting area), upgrading the archery area and creating a covered pavilion. We have plans to build a covered screened-in programming area adjacent to the dining hall that will provide additional dining capacity and space for small group instruction. Once these improvements are made, we can finish landscaping the main camp area, including adding a gravel drive for food deliveries, fixing drainage issues and planting grass for play and activity areas.

Partnership with 4-H: Barry camp is operated by the N.H. Fish and Game Department in partnership with 4-H through UNH Cooperative Extension. It is located in the White Mountain National Forest on the grounds of the Berlin Fish Hatchery in Milan, N.H. Programs at the camp include education in the shooting sports, hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor skills.

Directions: Barry Camp is at the Berlin Fish Hatchery, at the end of York Pond Road, off Route 110 in Milan.
