CONCORD, N.H. -- The 2006 shrimp season will be set at a public hearing of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission (ASMFC) Northern Shrimp Section from 10:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2005, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay in Portland, Maine. The section consists of Commissioners from New Hampshire, Maine and Massachusetts. The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department's Marine Fisheries Division participates in the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission. In its goal to protect and promote fisheries along the Atlantic seaboard, ASMFC recommends coast-wide management measures and develops fishery management plans for various marine species. Once fishery management plans are approved and adopted, commissioners implement them through state regulatory action. -###-
