NH FISH AND GAME DEPARTMENT
MAINTENANCE MECHANIC I
Compensation: $11.69 Hourly
The N.H. Fish and Game Department is seeking applications for a temporary part-time Maintenance Mechanic I (29.5 hours/week). This position is responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair work as necessary on facilities, grounds, machinery and equipment, as well as assisting in the general operations of the Great Bay Discovery Center in Greenland, N.H.
DEADLINE: Application must be submitted to NH Fish and Game by April 2, 2010.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Maintains and repairs facilities and surrounding grounds to ensure safety, appearance and operation.
- Cleans buildings and grounds, including cutting shrubbery, maintaining trails, mowing and trimming grass as well as snow shoveling and maintaining walkways during winter months.
- Performs general repairs and maintenance of building structures to maintain buildings in a safe operating condition. Rough carpentry to include repairing doors and door casings, fences and other wooden structures.
- Cleans, oils, and maintains equipment and tools as necessary for proper operation.
- Serves as site contact for after-hours emergencies, power outages and or vandalism, with local police and fire departments.
- Opens and closes buildings for special functions as well as emergency and scheduled repairs; performs nightly security checks of grounds and buildings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High School diploma or G. E. D. equivalent.
Experience: One years’ experience in general maintenance and repair work. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Possession of a valid driver’s license required.
Special Requirements: As a condition of employment, employee must live in department housing, sign an Employment Related Housing Agreement, and be responsible for security checks. Must be available for non-traditional work hours, including weekends, early mornings and late evenings as assigned by supervisor. Workweek consists of 29.5 hours per week.
