Visit Fish and Game at the "Discover Wild New Hampshire" building at the Hopkinton State Fair, September 2-6, 2010. Stop in and check the schedule for special wildlife features daily.  The exhibit is a great place to learn more about hunting, fishing and wildlife watching opportunities in New Hampshire.  Click here to learn more.

In northern New Hampshire, visit Fish and Game's exhibit at the Lancaster Fair from September 1-6, 2010.  Housed in the 4-H Building, this year's exhibit explores brook trout studies. Conservation Officers and Department biologists will be on hand to talk about fishing, hunting, wildlife watching, and more.  Find out more about the Lancaster Fair at www.lancasterfair.com.

Free Hunting Talks in Concord, N.H.
Get primed for the fall hunting seasons at a series of evening talks by area hunting experts at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings from August 31-September 28, 2010, at the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, in Concord, N.H.  Admission is free!  (Click here for more details.) September 13, 2010 -- Public hearing on the proposed Vermont-N.H. reciprocal snowmobile weekend will be held on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 6:30 p.m. at the N.H. Fish and Game Department, 11 Hazen Drive, Concord, N.H. Click here for more information.

September 13, 2010 -- Marine Hearing on Groundfish Rules; ASMFC Addendum on Striped Bass
The New Hampshire Fish and Game Department will hold a public hearing on proposed marine rule changes on Monday, September 13, 2010, at 6:30 p.m., at the Urban Forestry Center, 45 Elwyn Road, Portsmouth, N.H.  Immediately following the rule hearing, at 7:00 p.m. there will be an Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission hearing on an addendum to the management plan for striped bass. Saturday, September 25, 2010 --National Hunting and Fishing Day -- FREE New Hampshire Events
This fall's big hunting and fishing event in the Granite State is hosted by the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department, and sponsored by the Wildlife Heritage Foundation of New Hampshire. Admission is free! Details at www.wildnh.com/nhfday. New Hampshire events include:

  • Sporting Expo in Concord: N.H. Fish and Game will transform its grounds at 11 Hazen Drive in Concord into a giant outdoor sporting expo from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on September 25, 2010. Admission is free. Under the big tent, more than 40 product manufacturer representatives will be on hand with exhibits, demonstrations and activities for visitors. This is a great chance to check out the latest hunting and fishing-related products and services. A demo and display area will feature archery and air rifle ranges; hunting gear and accessories – from guns to decoys to scents and calls; pointing dog and retriever demonstrations; duck and goose calling lessons and demonstrations; taxidermy exhibits; fly-tying demonstrations; state-record buck and "Forever Locked" moose exhibit on display; food concession midday. Over 50 raffle prizes ranging from the “new” Thompson/Center Arms Impact .50 caliber muzzleloader to a serious sausage maker.  Come get primed for the upcoming seasons!

  • Open House at Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in Holderness: Also on September 25, 2010, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Fish and Game’s Owl Brook Hunter Education Center at 387 Perch Pond Road in Holderness, NH, will be open to the public, featuring a host of hands-on activities and demonstrations for youth and families. Admission is free. Special activities at Owl Brook during the event include a 3-D woodland archery course; video-based interactive shooting simulator; chance to try Sturm Ruger and Thompson/Center Arms shotguns and muzzleloaders; treestand safety activity; trapping techniques demo by the N.H. Trappers Association; free ice cream donated by Granite State Dairy Promotion. Adults can enter a free raffle for firearms donated by Thompson Center Arms and Sturm Ruger.
